Editorial: A Renewed Vision and Sharpened Focus for the Advanced and Sustainable Technologies (ASET)

Dear Readers, Authors, and Colleagues,

Since its establishment in 2021, the journal of Advanced and Sustainable Technologies (ASET) has experienced remarkable growth. We have had the privilege of publishing diverse research that explores the myriad ways technology intersects with modern society. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the authors, reviewers, and editorial board members who have supported ASET during its formative years.

As we move forward into 2026, the global demand for applied, sustainable engineering solutions has never been more urgent. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a critical blueprint for our collective future, and academic journals must play a frontline role in disseminating the technological innovations needed to achieve these global targets.

With this imperative in mind, the ASET Editorial Board has undertaken a strategic review of our publication trajectory. In our early volumes, we embraced a broad, multidisciplinary approach. However, to truly serve our core mission and our readership, we recognize the necessity of consolidating our focus.

Effective immediately, ASET is instituting a highly refined and rigorous Aims and Scope. We are drawing a distinct line in the sand to focus exclusively on the intersection of advanced engineering, applied technology, and measurable environmental sustainability.

Moving forward, all accepted research will be strictly categorized into five core thematic pillars:

  1. Sustainable & Advanced Manufacturing

  2. Smart Energy & Electrification

  3. Intelligent Systems for Sustainability

  4. Circular Economy & Resource Engineering

  5. Resilient Infrastructure & AgriTech

To protect the integrity of these pillars and elevate our academic standing toward broader international indexing, we are implementing stricter editorial workflows. Submissions that fall outside these technical boundaries, such as general business administration, marketing, social policies, or pure sciences lacking a clear sustainable engineering application, will now be immediately returned to authors without review. Our peer-review process will heavily weigh not only a manuscript's methodological soundness but its direct, articulated impact on specific SDGs.

This evolution marks an exciting maturation for ASET. By sharpening our scope, we aim to transform this journal into a premier, high-impact platform for the global engineering community.

We invite researchers, innovators, and industrial practitioners from around the world to join us in this renewed mission. We look forward to publishing your highest-quality, sustainably driven technological research.

Sincerely,

Ts. Dr. Khor Chu Yee
