Penggunaan Strategi Komunikasi Berdasarkan Bahasa Ibunda Dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Asing di Malaysia

Abstract

Communication strategy (CS) is one of the important elements in language learning. Mastery of CS in foreign language learning benefit students in improving the effectiveness of communication process. This article aims to discuss the types of CS based on the mother tongue that used by students in learning foreign languages in Malaysia. The results of the literatures review found that there are three types of L-1 based strategies on the mother tongue used by students in foreign language learning, which is code switching, foreignizing and literal translation. Based on previous studies research, the use of CS has been proven on improving students' proficiency in learning foreign languages. Therefore, the emphasis on CS proficiency based on the mother tongue should be given attention, so that efforts to improve foreign language proficiency can be carried out continuously. Several suggestions for improvement are also presented through this study.

 

Strategi Komunikasi (SK) merupakan salah satu elemen penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa. Penguasaan SK dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing memanfaatkan pelajar dalam meningkatkan keberkesanan proses komunikasi. Artikel ini bertujuan membincangkan jenis SK berdasarkan bahasa ibunda yang digunakan oleh pelajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing di Malaysia. Hasil tinjauan literatur mendapati tiga jenis SK berdasarkan bahasa ibunda yang digunakan oleh pelajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing, iaitu strategi penukaran kod, pengantarabangsaan dan terjemahan literal. Melalui penelitian ke atas kajian lepas, penggunaan SK terbukti membantu meningkatkan kecekapan pelajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing. Oleh itu, penekanan terhadap SK berdasarkan bahasa ibunda perlu diberi perhatian sewajarnya agar usaha meningkatkan penguasaan berbahasa asing dapat dijalankan secara berterusan. Beberapa cadangan bagi tujuan penambahbaikan turut dikemukakan menerusi kajian ini.
