Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects the human nervous system. It can hinder verbal communication when the patient experiences brain and nervous system disturbances. Epilepsy is also associated with apraxia, a motor speech disorder. This study aims to examine the speech of epilepsy patients during muscle seizures and discusses the aspects of apraxia that occur in these individuals. Additionally, the study analyzes the neuropsycholinguistic aspects of epilepsy patients' first language. The applied theory is Wernicke’s Neurolinguistic Theory (1874). The findings show that epilepsy patients experience apraxia during seizures, with impaired ability to express their first language clearly. Short syllables, dialectal shifts, and omissions of consonants and vowels were common in their speech. Furthermore, seizures impact behavior, causing psychological distress, including embarrassment and fear. This study hopes to open avenues for future research on apraxia in epilepsy patients.
2024-07-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Communication in Scientific Inquiry (JCSI)https://ejournal.unimap.edu.my/index.php/jcsi/article/view/796Examining the Impact of Influencers and Bloggers on Behavioral Intentions among Youth in Sindh Pakistan2024-05-28T12:17:40+00:00Ikramuddin Junejoikramuddin.junejo@hyd.szabist.edu.pkAbeer Memonikramuddin.junejo@hyd.szabist.edu.pkUmmi Naiemah Saraihummi@unimap.edu.myZuha Akhundikramuddin.junejo@hyd.szabist.edu.pkMahnoor Shahikramuddin.junejo@hyd.szabist.edu.pkMohd Khairulnizam Zaharinizamzahari@unimap.edu.my
This study examines the impact of attitude, social media influencers, electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) and credibility on behavioral intention among youth. The findings revealed that all variables of attitude, social media influencers, and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) positively and significantly impact behavioral intention. However, the attitude was found to have a more significant impact on the behavior of the youth of Pakistan due to higher beta values than the dependent variables. Therefore, policymakers in the textile industry can consider these variables in the future.
2024-07-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Communication in Scientific Inquiry (JCSI)https://ejournal.unimap.edu.my/index.php/jcsi/article/view/804Bermukun dalam Tradisi Masyarakat Sarawak2024-05-31T09:27:18+00:00Mohamad Nik Mat Peletnikmat@uitm.edu.myRozaimah RashidinNoriza DaudNurul NadiaWan Robiah Meor OsmanAnida Sarudin

Bermukun is one of the cultural heritage art activities of the Sarawak community that remains relevant to this day. The activity of bermukun involves three main components: drumming, exchanging rhymes (pantun), and dancing (bertandak). The methodology of this study employs a qualitative approach and content analysis aided by the Semiotic Triangle Model. Data on pantun were collected through field studies involving bermukun activities, with purposive sampling as the sampling method used. The implications of this study contribute to the development of the Symbolic Profile of Traditional Pantun in Bermukun of the Sarawak Malay Community and the Meaning Profile of Traditional Pantun in Bermukun of the Sarawak Malay Community. The pantun exchange activity is considered unique because it is delivered spontaneously and sung melodically. The beauty of exchanging pantun in the tradition of bermukun is also reflected in the expressions used in the pantun verses. These expressions are represented by both explicit and implicit symbols that showcase the intellectuality and communicative artistry of the Sarawak community. However, the symbolic elements, whether explicit or implicit, may lead to misunderstandings due to language barriers. As a result, the messages conveyed through the pantun may not be understood by non-native speakers. In truth, this tradition of exchanging pantun, passed down through generations, fosters a love for the arts and culture among the people of Sarawak. This aligns with the roles and functions of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, which is entrusted under the Sarawak State Arts and Culture Department. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify symbolic elements, analyze explicit and implicit meanings in the verses of Sarawak Malay pantun, and document pantun as a treasured artistic heritage.
2024-07-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Communication in Scientific Inquiry (JCSI)https://ejournal.unimap.edu.my/index.php/jcsi/article/view/873Challenges and Opportunities of Cybersecurity Education for Non-technical Majors2024-07-05T03:15:02+00:00Norlizawati Ghazalinorlizawati@studentmail.unimap.edu.myIna Suryaniinasuryani@unimap.edu.mySyed Zulkarnain Syed Idrussyzul@unimap.edu.my

Cybersecurity is fast becoming a crucial area of study due to the advancement of digital technology. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, we analyzed the post-editing practices of these students. The texts postedited were authentic Indonesian tourism texts sourced from lonely planet website. The findings revealed machine translation errors in three main areas: lexico-semantic errors, grammatical errors, and syntactic errors. Lexico-semantic errors often involved incorrect word choices and mistranslations of nuanced terms. Grammatical errors were prevalent in the misuse of tense, agreement, and article usage. Syntactic errors included improper sentence structure and word order, leading to awkward or unclear translations. As a result of these errors, it was observed that students did some corrections to polish the machine translated text, from the most dominant type of correction to the least dominant, including correcting lexical choices, correcting word form, correcting word order, omissions, additions and deleting. It is recommended that future studies involve more diverse participants with different text types so as to generate a more comprehensive finding.
2024-07-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Communication in Scientific Inquiry (JCSI)https://ejournal.unimap.edu.my/index.php/jcsi/article/view/1105A Review of Engineering Leadership Concept: A Way Forward2024-07-30T03:45:37+00:00Alim MaktarKhairun Nisa Khairuddinnisa@unimap.edu.myUmmi Naiemah Saraih
Leadership is a critical component in business management, and in some situations, it can be vital to the survival of a company or organization. The concept of leadership has been extensively studied across various disciplines, yet the specific domain of engineering leadership remains underexplored and poorly defined. Every engineering organization, regardless of size, requires leaders and employees to execute projects to ensure their organization's success. This review article examines the existing definitions of leadership and engineering leadership, highlighting the lack of consensus in the field. By analyzing current literature, the authors identify the key attributes and skills associated with engineering leadership and discuss their relevance to contemporary engineering practices. Our findings reveal a fragmented understanding of engineering leadership, underscoring the need for further empirical studies to develop a cohesive and comprehensive definition. This article aims to provide a foundational understanding of engineering leadership and proposes directions for future research to bridge the gaps in the current knowledge, thereby paving the way for the development of robust theoretical and practical frameworks in engineering leadership. This paper focuses on leadership in the engineering context as the engineering sector plays a vital role in addressing sustainable development on a local, national, regional and global level. The concept of engineering leadership is dynamic across countries and sectors, thus merits more attention from scholars to explore the dynamism of the concept.
2024-07-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Communication in Scientific Inquiry (JCSI)https://ejournal.unimap.edu.my/index.php/jcsi/article/view/1106Strategi Memohon Maaf dalam Kalangan Pelajar Pasca Siswazah Antarabangsa di UiTM2024-07-30T03:48:13+00:00Nor Hani SuhaimiMohamad Nik Mat Peletnikmat@uitm.edu.myNoor Saadah Salleh
